Neither Heritage Hills or North Harrison have won many games this season but the matchup tonight at Ramsey was a classic. The excitment started in the JV game as the Patriot JV improved to 10-5 with a 40-39 overtime win.

In the varsity game HH jumped out to a 11-0 lead before North Harrison made a run to cut the lead to 16-8 after one quarter...North Harrison outscored the Patriots 23-16 in the 2nd quarter to cut the lead to 32-31 at the half. North Harrison outscored the Patriots again in the 3rd and took their first lead about midway through the 3rd and led 51-46 after 3 quarters. In the 4th they got the lead up to 9 points behind the hot shooting of Devon Southard who hit at least 5 3 pointers and finished with a game high 24 points..Justin Forshey who has struggled the last 3 games had a outstanding game himself scoring 22 points for HH but none were as big as the one at the end with the game tied 59-59 North Harrison was working for the laast shot and managed to get Southard open but the 3 pointer got stuck in the backboard so HH had one last chance but only .5 seconds on the clock point guard Tirey Burch threw the long pass to Forshey he just lobbed it over his head for the 3 pointer and the 62-59 win. I would love to see the replay because that was the best shot i have seen by a HH player in my 30 some years watching HH basketball it left one team shocked and the other team going crazy..

the North Harrison radio intervied their coach and they talked about how its not likely they will ever see a shot like that again simply amazing finish. Forshey was helped by Sophomore Josh suhrheinrich who had 14 points, sophomore Devon Wahl had 10 points and Junior Garrett VanKirk had seven points.

I had Forshey 4 out of 5 from 2 point range, 3 for 3 from behind the arc and 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Overall I had HH shooting 60% from the field 23 out of 38 and also 60% from 3 point range 6 out of 10 and one of the misses was a heave at the end of the half Wahl had the other three 3 pointers for HH. I also had HH 10 out of 18 from the free throw line.

The Patriots improve to 5-11 on the season.

Probably the most amazing thing about that shot is that because Forshey's momentum was taking him toward the sideline and because there was only .5 remaining, Forshey never even had a chance to look at the rim. He simply threw it over his shoulder almost like a hook shot, all while looking toward his own bench, and hit nothing but net from about 22 feet.

As you mentioned Dave, the Patriots needed additional luck just to have a chance to hit that shot. If Southard's shot doesn't stick between the rim and backboard, the clock expires and we go to OT. The Patriots also needed to have the possession arrow in their favor. And the reason the arrow was in their direction was because prior to NH's running the clock down for the final shot, HH missed a shot that would've given them the lead and senior Taylor Wade hustled his way into a rebound tie-up when the NH player had better rebounding position. So, instead of simply taking possession on a defensive rebound, NH took over off a jump ball and the possession arrow flipped back into HH's favor. Many times, it's the little things that win you games.

I thought this was a very, very well-played game, considering the two teams have combined for 10 wins.

North Harrison won a game similer to this last season in the PSC classic if I remember corectly they hit a three midway between the 3 point line and half court for the 3 point win. The shot wasen't as amazing as this one but was a last 2nd hartbreaker for the Patriots like this one was for NH.

No video yet on YouTube hopefully one is forthcoming. That is what makes basketball so fun to watch you just never know when a shot or play is going to happen. I am sure that shot will be talked about for years.
