Any predictions...

Lets hear predictions with Smith and without Smith

With Smith I say Orleans 56
LHS 46

Without Smith Orleans 47
LHS 46

I feel real confident in the with Smith prediction.... Its all heart prediction on the without prediction

Why is a prediction with Smith necessary? He is not playing and it will never be known so why even address it? What will be known is how the current Orleans team fares against the current Loogootee team. It is unfortunate for Mr. Smith that he can't play. So anyway, I am picking Loogootee by 7. The current Loogootee team versus the current Orleans team. Just my opinion. I am not really into speculating on something that cannot occur! lol I will sit that part out.

Really. My bad then possibly. I just heard that somewhere around here. Don't remember for sure where. I just heard ACL and that he is done for the year. If that is not true, that is great news!! I think I read that somewhere on this site though.

How much snow did Loogootee get? Did they go to school today?

And are they hosting Girls Sectional?

Torn ACL is not really a catastrophic injury and doctor/coach/trainer in their right mind would actually let a kid play with. It's possible that it was reported incorrectly earlier this year on the site that Smith tore his ACL, but if he tore it that's at least 6 months of intensive rehab to get into game shape.

I doubt Orleans loses by 15 with or without him, but I highly doubt a prediction with him is really necessary unless someone was WAY off in saying he tore his ACL.

ACL is torn

I did some reading on it and I guess if it's not a tear that requires surgery the time table would be possible that he could come back, but still very unlikely that he would be to the level where it would be advisable for him to play competitive sports. Not that I would wish this type of injury on anyone, but stinks even worse it happened to a senior later on in the season. It would be great if it was a minor tear and he could make it back for the tournament, no way he'll be back Thursday though.

Just heard they are off school and the Sectional will be played Wed. Downtown coaches assoc.
says that the Thurs boys game is on and will not be moved. If the girls don't play on Wed, then it would be moved to Fri, Sat, with the final on Monday. Not gospel, but the DT coaches are usually right.

Nice tongue in cheek. I'm impressed with the depth of knowledge coming out of the "Downtown Coaches association". :)

They know more than people realize, they just can't coach like they want to! (HA) There's usually someone from school at each "session" so when word about school functions comes from them it is usually true.

Unless you are over 55, never played at LHS and think you can coach better than any current or past coach, I doubt it! Does every little basketball town have one of these elite clubs?

Update, just heard that the games are postponed AGAIN, now the schedule is Fri, Sat, with final on Monday nite. Boys game with Orleans is still on pending bad weather. Times are all the same for new schedule. No, the DT Assoc. hadn't confirmed it, but I got it from a good source. (Teacher at school)

You know I totally disagree with this lame decision! If we had a foot of snow on the ground I could see it, but this small amount and roads being cleared, it's simply overreaction by school officials. Political correction on steriods!

Totally agree! Back in the day we would play as long as the team could get there and the officials might have been late but we still played.

I remember two games in particular, one at Orleans in 1971, we had to ride with someone who had 4 wheel drive to get to the game. In 1980 at Bloomington North, drove home in the middle of a hellacious snow storm. All of these rescheduled games with a little snow and cold, hell it's winter! Deal with it! Play ball! I couldn't stay home from work today it wasn't even an option and those who know me know I have a long drive daily.

I hope that it isn't an omen but Orleans won that game in 1971. That is pretty unusual because while Butcher was coach, Loogootee was 42-3 against Orleans. One of those 3 losses happened that snowy night.

I think that was the Curt Gilstrap year, is that right?

Is LHS having school tomorrow? Orleans isnt...hope this doesnt affect game

Important to point out that with that Orleans does not have the no school/no game policy. Does Loogootee?

I can't really tell. All I have is the score, 74-64 Orleans. What really makes that interesting is that Loogootee only lost 4 games that year. The others were Barr-Reeve by 1, Bedford by 1 (OT) and Floyd Central by 9 in the final game of the semistate at Evansville.

As of right now, Loogootee is on a 2 hour delay.

Gilstrap would have been on that team as a sophomore i believe....it was the last time we beat Loogootee I beleive until that overtime regional game in 03

Rockman

Gilstrap was a freshman in '71. Orleans' studs in '71 were juniors, Johnny Burton and Charlie Elliott.

Yes and the final score was 74-64. That team didn't lose again until semi-state final game.

No Orleans beat Loogootee in 1974. Loogootee was 17-0 coming into that game and the Bulldogs beat us on senior night. I remember a car load of seniors harrrassed the Orleans team bus on Peeks cut by Shoals, nowadays those kids would have been put in jail! Oh and no I wasn't one of them ha ha.
